The Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, affirmed that the GCC countries have established their international standing as a reliable and effective partner in mediation and dispute settlement efforts, noting that Gulf diplomatic initiatives have contributed to converging viewpoints, containing crises, and enhancing opportunities for security and stability.

This came during his participation in the ninth Istanbul Mediation Conference, which was held under the slogan “Partnerships for Peace and New Horizons: Mediation in a Changing World,” with the participation of those concerned with developing tools for dialogue and preventive diplomacy.

Al-Budaiwi explained that the role of the GCC countries in mediation is no longer limited to their regional surroundings, but has extended to different regions of the world, through diplomatic initiatives and endeavors aimed at opening channels of dialogue between the conflicting parties and bringing their positions closer together.

He pointed out that the Gulf presence in mediation efforts reflects the international appreciation and trust enjoyed by the GCC countries, stressing that dialogue and peaceful solutions represent the best path to ending conflicts and limiting their repercussions on peoples.

Mediation and preventive diplomacy are gaining importance in managing international crises, as they focus on keeping communication channels open and creating conditions for understanding between the parties, before disputes expand or turn into more complex confrontations.

In the context of his participation, Al-Budaiwi praised Türkiye's efforts in organizing and hosting the Istanbul Mediation Conference, and its interest in strengthening preventive diplomacy and developing mechanisms for the peaceful settlement of disputes.

He also stressed the strength of Gulf-Turkish relations, appreciating Ankara's positions in support of the GCC countries in various files, and the common trend towards expanding areas of cooperation and strengthening partnerships between the two sides.

The conference was considered an international platform for exchanging experiences and coordinating efforts between parties concerned with mediation, in a way that supports dialogue and enhances the chances of reaching peaceful solutions to crises.

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council stressed that achieving security and stability is not limited to the efforts of a specific country or region, but rather requires international cooperation and partnerships capable of supporting peaceful initiatives.

He stressed that the GCC countries will continue to play their diplomatic role in supporting dialogue and mediation, based on their conviction that political and peaceful solutions are the way to spare people from the repercussions of conflicts.

These statements come within the framework of the Gulf Cooperation Council’s emphasis on the importance of strengthening international partnerships and employing dialogue and diplomacy in dealing with crises and challenges facing global security and stability.
