Araqchi: The seven-day plan to open the Strait of Hormuz is still on the table

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on Sunday that his country’s proposal submitted to America to open the Strait of Hormuz within 7 days is still on the table, stressing that the strait will be opened on the sixth day if Iranian conditions are implemented, with negotiations to resume on the seventh day. The official Iranian news agency "IRNA" quoted Araqchi as saying, on the sidelines of the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Baghdad: "Iran's conditions are completely clear, and they were presented to the American side within the framework of a 7-day plan." The Iranian Foreign Minister added: “The American side presented its observations, and we are studying them, and the Iranian plan is still on the table.”

If there is indeed credibility on the American side, which there is not, then the path is completely clear, and the path to opening the Strait of Hormuz is completely clear.” The Iranian Foreign Minister continued: “If they adhere to those conditions, the Strait of Hormuz will be opened on the sixth day, and negotiations will resume on the seventh day.”

Araqchi explained, "The conditions that we have set are not strange or unusual conditions, and I previously said that all of these conditions are things that the United States has previously committed to in the previous memorandum of understanding and other negotiations. They are completely fair conditions, and we believe that if the United States had the will to open the Strait of Hormuz, it could implement these conditions within a few days, and then the strait will be opened," according to the "IRNA" agency.
