Salfit - Ofoq News - Today, the Israeli occupation forces forced olive pickers to leave their agricultural lands in the northern area of the city of Salfit, adjacent to the apartheid wall, and fired sound bombs at them, before arresting a citizen without knowing the reasons.
The Director General of the Salfit Agriculture Directorate, Engineer Ibrahim Al-Hamad, said that the occupation forces targeted the farmers while they were on their lands, and forced them to leave them, after firing sound bombs at them, searching their ID cards, photographing their faces, and arresting the citizen, Burhan Issa, as part of the harassment they are subjected to during the olive harvest season.
Al-Hamad added that these attacks coincide with the olive harvest season, which constitutes an essential source of income for many Palestinian families, noting that preventing farmers from accessing their lands and forcing them to leave them threatens their ability to harvest their crops, especially in the areas adjacent to the apartheid wall.
Salfit Governorate, coinciding with the olive season, is witnessing an escalation in attacks and harassment against farmers, including preventing them from accessing their lands and forcing them to leave them, which threatens the agricultural season and increases the living burdens on families who depend on olives and their oil as a primary source of livelihood.
