Ramallah - Ofoq News - The Minister of Education and Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Today, Thursday, Amjad Barham, with the new UNICEF representative to the State of Palestine, Atef Rafiq, discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation in supporting the education sector, ensuring children’s right to education, and enhancing the response to educational needs in light of the current circumstances.
In this context; Barham stressed the importance of continuing cooperation with UNICEF in supporting the Ministry’s “Education for Development” plan and directing efforts towards national priorities. In particular, supporting the educational process in the Gaza Strip, supporting teachers, and protecting education in the targeted and remote areas and those designated (C); This ensures a safe and fair educational environment for all children.
The meeting also discussed the overall challenges facing education, most notably the continuing attacks by the occupation army and settlers, and the dangers and violations they cause of children’s right to safe access to education.
Barham also briefed the UNICEF representative on the ministry’s most prominent needs and priorities in the next phase, stressing the importance of strengthening efforts to respond to these needs, and strengthening programs that support education and child protection, especially in the areas most in need.
The Minister praised the partnership and cooperation with UNICEF, and the role played by the organization in supporting the Palestinian education sector, and continuing every effort to regularize the education process and protect the rights of students and teachers.
