Sanaa - Ofoq News - The spokesman for the coalition forces to support legitimacy in Yemen, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, announced that the Houthi group targeted with a drone the Taiba electricity distribution station in Medina at dawn on Tuesday, September 29.
Al-Maliki said that the attack occurred at 5:11 am, noting that the results of the investigations and examination of the remains of the drone, in addition to the operational review, proved, according to the Saudi narrative, the involvement of the Houthis in planning and implementing the attack.
He explained that the attack led to one of the electrical transformers being out of service, but did not cause the electricity network in Medina to be affected.
According to the spokesman, the targeted “Taiba” station is a civil facility that provides related electrical services, including services to the Prophet’s Mosque. Al-Maliki accused the Houthis of continuing attempts to target Mecca and Medina, vowing to take measures to deter the group and protect the Two Holy Mosques.
The Saudi announcement comes in light of the escalation of confrontations and tensions associated with the Houthis, while no Houthi testimony confirming the group’s responsibility for the attack was reported in the sources I reviewed at the time of publishing this news.
