The relevant agencies in the Egyptian Beni Suef Governorate, in coordination with the authorities concerned with river navigation, succeeded in refloating a river ship that had become stranded in the course of the Nile River in front of the village of Ashmant, in the Nasser Center district, without causing damage or injuries, according to the information received regarding the incident.
The Unified Control Center for Emergency and Public Safety at the General Office of Beni Suef Governorate had received a report, today, Saturday, stating that the ship had been exposed to sedimentation in the navigational course of the Nile River, which required the movement of the competent executive and security authorities to the site of the incident to deal with it.
Immediately, coordination took place between the concerned authorities, with a tugboat and river rescue equipment being deployed to help float the ship and return it to its normal course.
Efforts to deal with the incident resulted in the successful process of refloating and moving the ship, allowing it to resume its voyage safely, without recording injuries or damage, according to available data on the incident.
The authorities responsible for river navigation and protection of the Nile are responsible for dealing with cases of slush to which river units may be exposed, by assessing the situation and providing the necessary equipment to move them, in a way that ensures the safety of passengers and the regularity of navigation along the river.
The recent incident of the river ship running low in Beni Suef is not the first of its kind. The governorate witnessed similar incidents over the past years, ranging from the stranding of tourist ships and Nile ferries, and required the intervention of the competent authorities to refloat them and secure the passengers.
