The Egyptian Consulate in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, warned its nationals who violate the residency laws in the Kingdom of fraudulent operations carried out by people impersonating embassy employees. This came in a statement issued by the Consulate in Riyadh, which stated: “In light of the receipt of a number of complaints from citizens who violate the residency rules in the Kingdom by being subjected to scams by people impersonating consulate or embassy employees to help them complete the final exit procedures...” and continued: “The Consulate would like to assure the honorable members of the community that the final exit procedures are carried out free of charge for the benefit of Egyptian citizens and no fees are collected for the service.”
The consulate stressed to Egyptian citizens in Saudi Arabia “the need not to be led by any suspicious pages or contact numbers that claim to be connected to the consulate and its ability to complete the final exit procedures in exchange for money.” In its statement, the Consulate offered an email to consulate.riyadh@mfa.gov.eg to communicate with those exposed to such fraudulent operations, or by going to the consulate headquarters and “submitting proof that they were exposed to fraud, in preparation for addressing the relevant Saudi authorities to take the necessary measures,” according to the statement.
