Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Has the era of toys really come to an end? This is the crucial question posed by the new teaser trailer for "Toy Story 5," released by "Pixar" on Tuesday, which addresses the familiar parenting dilemma of screen time.
The short teaser, set to the tune of "Never Tear Us Apart" by the band "INXS," shows a new package being delivered to "Bonnie Anderson," the younger sister of "Andy," who inherited all his toys in the emotional 2010 film "Toy Story 3." As our favorite group of animated toys, including: "Woody," "Buzz," "Rex," Mr. and Mrs. "Potato Head," "Jessie," and others, look on in expected horror, the package opens to reveal a tablet framed by a frog named "Lily Pad," who tells Bonnie: "Let’s play!" Based on the girl's enthusiastic reaction, the toys in this story will face a significant challenge in maintaining their relevance.
However, it remains unclear whether the film will address the stark and multifaceted irony that these toys themselves were tools for screen invasion, as characters in a 30-year-old film series. "Toy Story 5" will bring back stars: Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, among others, as part of the voice cast.
The film will also feature new actors in the series, Ernie Hudson, Conan O'Brien, and Greta Lee, as "Lily Pad," according to the promotional description from "Pixar" on YouTube. The film is set to be released in theaters in the summer of 2026.
