Dubai, United Arab Emirates - The topic of mental health is often accompanied by stigma from society. This is one of the reasons that prevents people from seeking the help they need.
The National Center for Disease Prevention and Control (Saudi CDC) published tips on dealing with the stigma associated with mental illness, which include: Learn about the psychological disorder you suffer from, and share what you have learned with others, as knowledge reduces stigma. The majority of psychological problems are treatable, therefore, try to get the necessary help from specialists. Do not allow feelings of rejection to be an obstacle that prevents you from practicing your normal activities and hobbies that you love. Avoid thinking too much about what others say about your mental illness to avoid feeling negative. As bad as this resulted, many patients were able to overcome and recover from their psychological illnesses. Do not let stigma prevent you from receiving treatment. Do not allow stigma to push you towards isolation from society, and try to spend your time with people you trust and who understand your psychological condition.
