“I'm sorry... Enough.” With these words, a young child tried to beg a woman who appeared in a circulating video clip, today, Sunday, hitting him with a stick, while the child appeared to surrender to the beatings and repeat phrases for help, in a scene that sparked widespread interaction on social networking sites.
The video shows the child asking the woman to stop hitting him, repeating “I’m sorry” and “enough,” while the woman continues to assault him with the stick, according to what appears in the circulating clip.
The video sparked a wave of anger among social media users, amid circulating allegations that the woman was a teacher and that the incident occurred inside an educational institution in Fayoum Governorate.
In the first official move, the Ministry of Education and Technical Education continues to examine the circulating video, to verify the circumstances of the incident and determine the location of its filming, in preparation for taking the necessary measures if it is proven that it is linked to one of the educational institutions affiliated with the Ministry.
On the other hand, it has not yet been confirmed that the incident occurred inside a Fayoum school, while the educational authorities in the governorate are following up on what was raised about the video to verify the location of its filming and the fact that it is linked to any educational institution in the governorate.
The Fayoum Governorate Media Center had warned against attributing the video to the governorate or one of its schools before the examination and verification work was completed.
The competent authorities continue to examine the clip to determine the identity of the woman, the location and circumstances of the incident, in preparation for taking the necessary measures according to the results of the investigation.
