- Researchers have spotted one of the longest types of jellyfish of the genus “Chrysaora” in the waters of the Gulf, according to what the National Center for Wildlife Development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reported on the “X” website on Wednesday. In a short video clip that accompanied the post, the jellyfish, with its pink gelatinous body and very long tentacles, can be seen swimming in relatively shallow water.
The center indicated that it is working to study this marine organism, and the scope of its distribution in the Red Sea and Gulf waters, in order to build a scientific base that supports the preservation of marine and coastal habitats. The Red Sea and the waters of the Arabian Gulf have one of the richest marine biodiversity regionally.
The waters contain thousands of marine organisms and hundreds of species of coral reefs, fish and mammals, according to what was reported by the official website of the Saudi Press Agency.
