Salfit - Afaq News - A group of settlers attacked olive pickers today in the northeastern area of the village of Marda, north of Salfit, and assaulted them physically. They also attacked several citizens' homes and vehicles in the area, while Israeli occupation forces intervened, leading to several residents suffering from tear gas inhalation.
The head of the Marda village council, Sadiq Al-Khafsh, reported that a group of settlers attacked farmers while they were picking olives on their lands. They also attacked several citizens' homes in the northeastern area of the village, noting that the settlers stole agricultural equipment and olives, assaulted several citizens, and smashed the windows of some of their vehicles.
He added that occupation soldiers arrived at the scene and fired live ammunition and tear gas canisters at the citizens and around their homes, resulting in several residents suffering from suffocation, who were treated on-site.
Al-Khafsh explained that the occupation forces stormed several citizens' homes in the village and rummaged through their contents, while also vandalizing furniture and belongings inside one of the homes and physically assaulting its owners. They detained several young men before releasing them and arrested three others.
He confirmed that the occupation forces continue to raid the village and are deployed in several of its areas, amid a state of tension and alertness among the residents, in light of the ongoing assaults on farmers during the olive-picking season.
