Tehran - Ofoq News - The Iranian army announced that a fire had broken out in an oil tanker east of the Strait of Hormuz, claiming that the ship had committed a maritime violation after disabling its tracking systems, in an attempt to cross a restricted area in the Sea of Oman.
Iranian media quoted the army as saying that the naval forces' surveillance teams spotted the tanker burning, noting that the incident occurred during a naval patrol in the area east of the Strait of Hormuz.
The Iranian army added that the strait is still under the full control and monitoring of the naval forces of the army and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, warning ships against violating instructions related to maritime passage in the region.
