The Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Major General Mohsen Rezaei, said that Tehran has set 7 basic conditions for the US government as a prerequisite for starting any negotiations, and stated that US President Donald Trump’s calculations regarding the war were “wrong.” Major General Mohsen Rezaei added in statements on Saturday evening that Tehran has set 7 clear conditions for the American side to begin any negotiating path, as reported by the official Iranian news agency IRNA.
He explained that consultations with the Qatari and Pakistani mediators are still ongoing, and that Iran informed them of its conditions for negotiation, and Qatar transferred them to Washington, and Tehran is awaiting Trump’s response to the conditions. He said that among Tehran's conditions were "ending the war on all fronts, releasing frozen Iranian assets, and ending the naval blockade."
Mohsen Rezaei described Tehran's position as "decisive and unequivocal," noting that if Washington wants to overcome the current crisis it has caused and avoid further involvement, it must commit to recognizing Iranian rights and complying with the conditions presented. Rezaei said, "The American President's calculations regarding Iran were wrong, and that Tehran would target American bases and interests in the region more severely if they were attacked," according to what was reported by the semi-official Iranian Mehr News Agency.
He said, "Iran is ready to fight a fateful war and that it knows the weaknesses of the American army." The Iranian official claimed that Tehran wants to end the war between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis in Yemen, and said that "the Houthis also want to reach an agreement with Riyadh," according to Mehr Agency.
