Tel Aviv - Ofoq News - The Israeli army revealed the existence of a military order called “Global Trade”, which is activated in cases of hijacking of civilian aircraft, and was put in place following the attacks of September 11, 2001 in the United States.
The newspaper "Israel Hayom" reported that this order was activated in practice on September 30, following an attempt to control a plane belonging to the airline "Fly Dubai."
These procedures were formulated in the Israeli Air Force in the context of drawing lessons from the September 11 attacks, and stipulate that immediately upon receiving a distress signal from the plane, the command is activated automatically, and fighter planes take off within a few seconds to immediately deal with the hijackers and attackers.
These measures are primarily aimed at preventing the accident from expanding and protecting the lives of passengers and crew members, in addition to preventing the hijacked plane from being used to target strategic Israeli sites.
According to the report, combat aircraft are allowed, in accordance with procedures, to shoot down the hijacked plane or accompany it to force it to land, with the aim of preventing damage to the state’s strategic assets.
