The Lebanese Presidency announced that the President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, received a phone call, Thursday evening, from US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and discussed with him the general situation in Lebanon and the region in light of recent developments.

A presidential post on the X website stated that the call “also touched on the situation in the south in light of the continued Israeli attacks on southern villages and towns.”

The statement indicated that President Aoun “asked Minister Rubio to pressure Israel to stop these attacks,” adhere to the terms of the framework agreement, stop bulldozing, and enable farmers to reach their fields and not be harmed.

During the call, President Aoun assured Minister Rubio that the army and security forces are carrying out their full duties in implementing decisions related to preventing armed demonstrations, confiscating weapons and ammunition, and combating smuggling, and the measures recorded in the past few days fall within this context.

The statement pointed out that the judicial authorities are following up on all files referred to them, and that there will be no leniency towards the perpetrators, and that the laws will be applied without any favoritism.
