The Lebanese Army announced today, Thursday, that it had thwarted the smuggling of about 245 kilograms of highly explosive TNT and 4 explosive devices from Syrian territory into Lebanon.
He explained in a statement that this came "as a result of monitoring and surveillance operations at the northern and eastern borders."
The seizures also included 8 explosive devices and electrical wires for detonators.
The army added in its statement that the smugglers fled towards Syrian territory immediately after an army patrol arrived at the place.
The seized items were handed over to the relevant authorities, and follow-up and coordination are underway to arrest those involved.
