Ramallah - Ofoq News - As part of its commitment to supporting Palestinian sports and empowering young men and women, the National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Cappy sponsored the “Canaan Girls” Football Championship, which was held on Saturday in the Ramallah Indoor Secret Hall, with the participation of eight women’s teams that included players between the ages of 12 and 16 years. The tournament aimed to enhance the presence of Palestinian girls in the stadiums, and provide them with the opportunity to develop their sports skills and highlight their talents.

The tournament witnessed a distinctive competitive sports atmosphere, at the end of which the Baladna Al-Rihawi Club was crowned champion of the “Canaan Girls” Cup, after competitions that brought together the participating teams from various Palestinian governorates, in a sports day that celebrated the abilities of the players and reinforced the values ​​of teamwork and fair competition.

The National Beverage Company’s sponsorship came through supporting the provision of sportswear for the eight teams and participating players, which contributes to creating the appropriate conditions for competition, encouraging girls to participate in sports activities and tournaments, and expanding the opportunities available to them to develop their abilities and hone their talents. The tournament also included awareness-raising activities on the occasion of “Pink October,” aimed at raising awareness of the importance of prevention and early detection of breast cancer, emphasizing the role of sport in promoting health awareness and community service, in addition to its competitive role.

Mr. Imad al-Hindi, General Manager of National Beverage Company, said that sponsoring the “Canaan Girls” Championship is consistent with the company’s vision and commitment to supporting sports and community initiatives that contribute to empowering young men and women, and enhancing the role of sports in building character and consolidating the values ​​of cooperation, belonging, and teamwork.

Al-Hindi added: “At National Beverage Company, we believe that sport goes beyond the limits of competition on the field, as it is a space for building self-confidence, discovering talent, and enhancing the spirit of leadership and determination among the younger generations. Hence, we are keen to support initiatives that provide Palestinian girls with real opportunities to highlight their abilities and achieve their ambitions, and to enhance their presence and active participation in various sports and community fields.”

Al-Hindi stressed the importance of providing a supportive and sustainable environment for Palestinian women’s sports, by expanding the base of participation and organizing more tournaments and events that provide female players with opportunities to compete, exchange experiences, and develop their skills. He stressed that investing in young men and women constitutes an essential foundation for building a more vibrant society capable of facing challenges.

For her part, Safia Abdel-Hay, project coordinator for the “Kanaan Girls” Championship project and one of the students in the Sports Management Program in Continuing Education at Birzeit University, said: “The “Kanaan Girls” Championship came as a result of our efforts as students in the Sports Management Program in Continuing Education at Birzeit University, and based on our belief that sport is not just a competition on the field, but rather a space for creating opportunities, discovering talents, and enhancing girls’ self-confidence and their ability to lead and achieve.

Through this initiative, we sought to provide a sports platform that brings together girls from various Palestinian governorates, gives them a real opportunity to demonstrate their abilities, and enhances their presence in the Palestinian sports scene.”

Abdel-Hay appreciated the sponsorship and support of the National Beverage Company Coca-Cola/Capy for the tournament by providing sportswear to the participating teams, noting that this partnership represents an important model of integration between national institutions, academic institutions, and students in community service.

She added that the organizers were keen for the tournament to carry a humanitarian and health message, by linking it to the “Pink October” activities and raising awareness of the importance of early detection of breast cancer, emphasizing the ability of sport to make a positive impact beyond the boundaries of the field.

Abdel Hay continued: “As students, we seek to transform academic knowledge into a practical experience with a societal impact. We are proud of this experience, which has proven that youth initiatives, when they receive partnership and support, are capable of making a real difference. We hope that the “Canaan Girls” Championship will be a first step towards sustainable initiatives that expand girls’ participation in Palestinian sports and open greater horizons for excellence and achievement before them.”
