On Wednesday evening, the Saudi authorities revealed the number of victims of the attempt to target the Shaybah oil field in the Eastern Province, the same morning, according to a source in the Ministry of Energy. The source said in a statement: “This morning (Wednesday), October 21, 2026 AD, a drone was intercepted by air defenses as it attempted to target one of the laboratories in the Shaybah field of Saudi Aramco in the Eastern Province...” He continued that the interception resulted in “a fire breaking out in a vehicle belonging to one of the contractors working in the field, outside the walls of the plant, without affecting operational operations.”

The official continued, according to the statement: “The competent authorities began dealing with the incident and taking the necessary measures, as the attempted attack resulted in the death of residents of Filipino and Nepali nationalities, and two cases of injury to residents of Pakistani and Indian nationalities. The source expressed sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the two deceased, and wishes for a speedy recovery for those injured.”
