Saudi Arabia's security in Egyptian doctrine

Listen to the article. The audio text is automated, generated by an automated system

An unmistakable historical Egyptian decision, taken by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to translate the Egyptian security doctrine and its connection to the Arab dimension, especially the Saudi one, by meeting all the security needs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to confront any attack against its lands, or any attempt to infringe on the sanctity of the sacred areas, or an attempt to change the maps of the region by destabilizing Saudi Arabia and affecting its Gulf and Arab status. The Egyptian Parliament’s decision was consistent with President Sisi’s profound strategic vision, and a practical translation of the interconnectedness of Egyptian and Saudi national security in particular and the Gulf in general. As the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab are the strategic entrance to Egypt, and they reflect the interconnectedness of the Arab borders, not their distance, and the phrase “railroad distance” has turned into a historical decision, so that defending the unity of Arab lands has become a present reality on the ground.

Egypt clearly stated its position that we do not seek war with anyone, but that does not mean neglecting the borders of the Arab region, or complacency in the security of Saudi Arabia, and the parliamentary mandate of the president gives him the right to Egyptian intervention to defend it and protect its borders. Arab maps are not a toy in the hands of regional powers to intervene and change their features during times of war using militias that do not respect any values. Rather, they exploit the sectarian and religious dimension to incite strife and demolish the borders of countries. Intervention to protect Saudi Arabia and the Gulf is essentially a protection of Egyptian lands and waters. This Egyptian position in support of Saudi Arabia comes as an extension of a consistent approach in Egyptian policy based on supporting Arab countries and rejecting threats to their security. The stability of the Arab countries is a fundamental pillar of Egyptian and Arab national security. There is a long history that brings Egypt and Saudi Arabia together, embodied in October 1973 when Saudi Arabia supported Egypt economically, politically, and militarily, in addition to the oil embargo, and the Egyptian move today is linked to the security of the Red Sea, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and the freedom of navigation that protects the Suez Canal and its resources. There is a clear equation that makes it difficult to separate geographically between the stability of the Gulf and the stability of Egypt. The Egyptian move goes beyond responding to a desire or initiative to confirm the depth of strategic coordination between Cairo and Riyadh, to reflect the extent of Egyptian readiness to translate political solidarity into practical steps. Egypt, in difficult times, proves to its brothers and to the region that we are one entity... Salute to the wise decision that protects our interests and confirms our Arabism.
