Seizure of More Than 14 Tons of Expired Goods During Last September
Ramallah - Afaq News - The Customs Control Authority dealt with 227 cases in September in cooperation with partner agencies and relevant security forces, resulting in the seizure and destruction of more than 14 tons of expired food, supplies, and cleaning materials, along with the seizure of quantities of smuggled and prohibited goods.

Ramallah - Afaq News - The Customs Control Department dealt with 227 cases during the month of September in cooperation with partner agencies and relevant security forces, resulting in the seizure and destruction of more than 14 tons of expired food, supplies, and cleaning materials, in addition to seizing quantities of smuggled goods and those prohibited from circulation in violation of applicable laws and regulations.
These efforts come as part of the supervisory role carried out by the department to protect consumers and maintain public health, prevent the spread of spoiled and counterfeit goods, and goods from settlements, in addition to supporting the national economy and contributing to enhancing public treasury revenues.
In detail, 100 cases were handled in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance aimed at improving state revenues and supplementing the treasury with funds, detailed as follows: 70 tax and customs cases and the referral of taxpayers to the ministry to complete their commercial transactions, 8 cases of goods coming from Israel without a clearance invoice, and 19 cases in the field of smuggled tobacco and prohibited goods due to their economic harms and their drain on the state treasury.
A total of 114 cases were handled in cooperation with the Ministries of Economy and Health to prevent the spread of spoiled and counterfeit goods and goods from settlements, aiming to provide health security, which included:
- Seizing more than 14 tons of expired food, supplies, and cleaning materials, which were destroyed.
- A total of 1059 kg of cosmetics, food products, and pesticides without identification labels and in violation of mandatory regulations were seized and handed over to the relevant authorities.
- A total of (216 sexual enhancement products, 100 empty capsules, 44 cosmetic containers, and 16,000 empty packaging cartons) were seized, all of which are prohibited from circulation and not licensed, and were handed over to the relevant authorities.
Dealing with 4 cases in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, which are:
- Two cases involving agricultural products without agricultural transport permits or prohibited by a decision from the Minister of Agriculture.
- Two cases involving animal products without agricultural transport permits or prohibited by a decision from the Minister of Agriculture.
Dealing with 4 cases in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, which included:
- Seizing 96 sexual enhancement products and 129 communication devices, all of which are prohibited from circulation and were handed over to the relevant authority.
- Seizing 3 communication devices and 27 parcels, all of which are unlicensed and non-compliant with specifications and were handed over to the relevant authority.
In the field of awareness and direct communication with citizens: The authority provided many awareness lectures that benefited approximately (3500) beneficiaries in universities, colleges, summer camps, and civil society institutions in the northern governorates.
The Customs Control Authority called on citizens to report smuggled, spoiled, or counterfeit goods, or cases of price manipulation or monopolization, by calling the toll-free number 132, or through the authority's official page on the social media platform (Facebook).
