Salfit - Ofoq News - Settlers stole olives from citizens’ lands in the town of Kafr al-Dik, west of Salfit, while the Israeli occupation forces arrested a young man while picking olives in the northern area of the city of Salfit.
Citizens reported that the occupation forces arrested the young man, Louay Younis, while he was on agricultural lands in the northern area of the city of Salfit, while participating in picking olives, in light of the continued restrictions to which farmers are exposed during the season.
In the town of Kafr al-Dik, citizens were surprised today by the theft of olive fruits from dozens of trees on their lands located in the western region of the town, after they were able to reach them after obtaining prior coordination that allowed them to enter their lands and harvest the crop.
Citizens explained that they discovered the theft of the fruits of dozens of olive trees, which caused them financial losses and deprived them of part of their crop, which they wait for throughout the year, at a time when the olive season constitutes an essential source of livelihood for many Palestinian families.
This comes in light of the escalation of attacks on farmers and their lands during the olive harvest season in Salfit Governorate, amid fears of the continued targeting of trees and agricultural crops, and the resulting economic losses and threat to farmers’ livelihoods and their right to access their lands.
