Informed sources told Bloomberg yesterday, Thursday, that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi proposed during his meetings in New York to provide IAEA inspectors with access to nuclear facilities that were bombed during the war, in exchange for easing sanctions.

The diplomats added that Araqchi's proposal may be an indication of the economic pressures facing Tehran, although the Iranian Foreign Minister did not provide detailed information during these meetings about the state of his country's economy.

In a related matter, US President Donald Trump questioned Iran’s commitment to any agreement reached in the future, calling on the Iranian leadership to “make the right decision.”

He added: "In the past few days, we have taken more oil out of the Strait of Hormuz. The navy is truly amazing. It has imposed a blockade. We are the only ones who are able to cross or are allowed to cross. Iran has not been able to pass a single ship... not a single ship for months."

He pointed out, "When the war ends, which is what will happen one way or another... they have to take appropriate and intelligent action, otherwise they will not stay for long... and this is definitely and frankly something I hate to see... but they will not stay long... there is a group of people who want that because they say that it is not possible to reach an agreement with the Iranians."

Tension is rising in the Middle East, against the backdrop of the war that broke out at the end of February with American and Israeli strikes on Iran.

In an interview with Time magazine published Thursday, Trump spoke of a “possible” intensification of attacks against Iran after the midterm elections scheduled for early November.

Tehran is also studying the political risks that Trump may be exposed to as a result of the conflict continuing for a long period. Opinion polls indicate that the war is unpopular with Americans, and the rise in fuel prices remains a source of concern before the midterm congressional elections, against the backdrop of the closure and blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the Pentagon will send an aircraft carrier and other ships to the region, as part of reinforcements numbering between nine thousand and ten thousand military personnel expected to arrive by the end of November.
