Syrian News Agency: Foiling a terrorist plot to target the Homs refinery

- The official Syrian News Agency (SANA) said on Sunday that the security authorities had thwarted a “terrorist plot” to target the Homs oil refinery, at a time when it had revealed the arrest of a cell affiliated with the terrorist organization “ISIS” in Deir ez-Zor Governorate. SANA quoted a source in the General Intelligence that “a terrorist plot to target the Homs refinery was foiled.”

The agency previously published that the General Intelligence Service, in cooperation with the Internal Security Forces in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, “arrested a terrorist cell affiliated with ISIS, consisting of two individuals, following careful intelligence follow-up.” The Internal Security Forces also said, “Investigations revealed the involvement of the two detainees in carrying out a series of assassination operations in the governorate, the most recent of which was the targeting of a member of the Ministry of Defense, Ibrahim Al-Jassem, with gunfire near Al-Rashid Mosque in the city of Al-Mayadeen.”

Last month, the security authorities announced the thwarting of ISIS plans that targeted the security forces and places of worship in the Homs countryside and the Damascus countryside.
