The Al-Jabsa gas export line was subjected to an explosion in the southern countryside of Al-Hasakah, today, Thursday, which led to the outbreak of fire. The director of the media office of the Syrian Petroleum Company, Uday Al-Sattouf, explained in a statement to the Syrian news agency, SANA, that the targeting of the line occurred in the “Al-Arbaidi” area, which is about 60 kilometers from the city of Al-Shaddadi.
He pointed out that the competent authorities are following developments to deal with the bombing incident and contain its effects, as the area was isolated and sectional valves were closed before and after the targeting site, and firefighting, security and safety teams also secured the surrounding area. The oil derivatives transport line extending from Baniyas to Homs was subjected to an act of sabotage in the Hodeidah area, by creating a hole in it, which led to the leakage of the oil material, cutting off the Homs-Tartus highway in both directions, and diverting traffic to alternative routes.
The Syrian Petroleum Company and civil defense teams began repair work on the line after closing the valves before and after the site of the attack, with the aim of stopping the flow of the oil material and limiting its spread.
