France and a number of European countries have recently witnessed popular protests of undoubted seriousness, and their spread to a number of European countries has made some analysts invoke the domino theory to explain, even partially, what happened, and raise serious questions about the European future. This article is concerned with the future of the European extreme right in particular, in light of these events. In fact, since the past decade in particular, Europe has witnessed a number of important developments that have raised question marks about the scenarios for its future developments. The rise of the extreme right appears to be one of the The most important of these developments is the rise that can be attributed to a complex group of factors that strengthened nationalist and populist sentiments. One of the most prominent issues addressed by the parties belonging to this extreme right is the issue of immigration, which many extreme right-wing parties exploited concerns about its social, economic and cultural effects, especially after the crisis of the influx of refugees from the Middle East and Africa in the past decade, to increase the popularity of these parties, in addition to the growing economic discontent, especially after the financial crisis in 2008, and the austerity it led to, which exacerbated the lack of Equality, and thus extremist right-wing parties rose, such as the “National Rally” in France, the “Alternative for Germany,” the “Brothers of Italy,” and “Freedom” in Austria, and many others, including in Eastern European countries. This rise raised many questions regarding internal and external issues, as is evident from their position on civil wars, minority rights, restricting immigration, and the challenge of cultural pluralism, and even the future of democratic rule itself in Europe, as well as the position of these parties that cast doubt on the Union. The European Union and its institutions, and in fact, the British exit from the European Union cannot be understood outside of this context. Although the extremist European right-wing parties, led by the National Rally party led by Marie Le Pen in France, are not the direct cause of the current events, it is clear that they may be among the most important beneficiaries of them, as the direct reason for the exit of hundreds of thousands in important European countries such as France, Spain and Italy is due to severe living crises that include inflation, high fuel prices, high housing costs, and the deterioration of education and services. It is noted that the extreme right-wing parties, such as the “National Rally” party, do not directly participate in the events, and do not encourage their supporters to take to the streets to vandalize. However, they follow a smart strategy to benefit from the events. For example, right-wing leaders exploit scenes of violence and looting to accuse the incumbent governments of inability and failure to control security, and present themselves as an alternative capable of maintaining order and law. They, like Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister of Italy, are quick to link the riots to immigration policies and the failure to integrate immigrants, with the aim of strengthening popular support. However, the European leftist movements also enjoy a weight that cannot be ignored in the current European movement, and these movements, with all their arms, are considered the main driver and backbone of the current protests. Therefore, Europe may be entering a phase of increasing instability as a result of an unresolved conflict between rising right-wing movements and left-wing movements that have undoubtedly gained momentum in current events. It is extremely difficult to predict the future of this conflict, but what is certain is thatThe Old Continent is currently witnessing events that will affect its future for a long time.
