The Revolutionary Guard reveals the fate of 3 oil tankers after they exploded in the Strait of Hormuz

- The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced in a statement, on Thursday, that 3 oil tankers were exposed to an explosion after colliding with sea mines while crossing the Strait of Hormuz, according to what was reported by the semi-official Iranian Tasnim News Agency. The Public Relations of the Revolutionary Guard said that these ships were crossing “the unauthorized route,” as they described it, explaining that these tankers were left on the southern shores of the Strait of Hormuz.

The statement said: “3 violating oil tankers exploded and caught fire after colliding with sea mines while crossing the unauthorized southern route of the Strait of Hormuz, and then were left on the southern shores of the Strait,” according to Tasnim Agency. The Revolutionary Guard claimed that "these tankers shut down all their radar and navigation systems, and ignored warnings from the Revolutionary Guard's naval force as they attempted to exit the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz, and exploded after colliding with a sea mine."

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard reiterated that the unauthorized route in the Strait of Hormuz is “contaminated with mines,” and that ship owners and crews are responsible for crossing these routes, and they should not pay attention to what it described as the “delusions” of the US Central Command (CENTCOM) in cyberspace, according to the statement. On Saturday, the Iranian Tasnim Agency quoted an informed source as saying that Iran had not submitted any new proposals regarding reopening the Strait of Hormuz to the United States.

The source said: “Iran does not accept any equation linking the Strait of Hormuz and lifting the blockade. Rather, Iran circumvents the blockade through its own methods, and will eventually break it.”
