The United Nations envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, stressed on Saturday that the Houthi attack on Riyadh airport "represents a dangerous escalation."

“These actions pose a serious threat to regional security, perpetuate cycles of violence, and further complicate peace efforts in Yemen,” Grundberg said in a statement, calling on the Houthi militia to “stop these attacks” targeting civilian targets in Saudi Arabia.

For his part, the head of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, affirmed his country's full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and its strong condemnation of the cowardly Houthi terrorist attack, which targeted King Khalid International Airport, and resulted in a number of deaths and hundreds of injuries of different nationalities.

Al-Alimi added, in a blog post on the “X” platform, that “this attack reflects the nature of the terrorist behavior of the Houthi militias, and their disregard for the lives of civilians, the security of the region, and the interests of the Yemeni people.”

He also added that "the security of the Kingdom, the security of Yemen, and the interests of their people are interconnected," stressing that "any attack on the Kingdom is an attack on the security of Yemen, its interests, and the future of its generations."

He also went on to say, "From this standpoint, we renew our joint determination to move forward with Operation Yemen Dawn to end the terrorist threat and restore state institutions."

While he praised the fraternal positions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its continued support for the Yemeni economy, and its efforts to alleviate human suffering, including the recent support for the state’s general budget, and the facilities announced to correct the conditions of Yemeni residents on its territory.
