The former Saudi intelligence chief, Prince Turki Al-Faisal, said, “Saudi Arabia’s care for Yemen’s interests does not stop at the battlefields,” adding: Our leadership has been patient, and has been very patient, with the Houthi group’s repeated provocations for several years, in order to avoid fighting.
He added in an article published in Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper: “When the torrent reached its peak, it was only when the signs of liberating Yemen from the tyranny of this rogue faction broke out, and their forces were quickly defeated on the fronts, and President Al-Alimi announced that the liberation of Sana’a was the demand, indicating that Saudi Arabia was never covetous of land in Yemen, nor did it seek to fight in it. Rather, throughout the past years, it did not stop calling for a peaceful solution that would restore stability to Yemen and its people.” And safety.
He went on to cite in his article the speech of the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in his annual royal speech in the Saudi Shura Council, when he said, “Riyadh confirms its comprehensive support, through the coalition to support legitimacy for the Yemeni government, to extend its authority over the entire country, restore stability, and confront the attacks of the terrorist Houthi militias that have chosen chaos and devastation, and threatening the Yemeni people and the region as their path.”
In a related context, the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen stresses that the Houthi attacks by the terrorist Houthi militia on civilian objects in the Kingdom, the most recent of which was the targeting of King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Abha International Airport, “have not and will not go unaccounted for.”
Riyadh confirms that since the terrorist Houthi militia's coup against the legitimate Yemeni government in 2014 AD, it has made persistent and continuous efforts to support reaching a comprehensive and sustainable political solution in Yemen, but the militia, as an extension of its approach that rejects peace, has instead chosen continued military escalation, "dragging Yemen and the brotherly Yemeni people into more human and economic suffering in the service and implementation of foreign agendas."
