UAE Condemns Continued Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia

- The UAE condemned on Wednesday the attacks launched by the Iranian-backed Houthi group against Saudi Arabia, and the targeting of the Kingdom's ships in the Red Sea. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement condemning "in the strongest terms the continued targeting of civilians and civilian and economic facilities in the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in addition to the targeting of Saudi ships in the southern Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait."

The Foreign Ministry's statement emphasized that "the continuation of this targeting represents a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and a threat to its security and stability." The UAE also affirmed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia "and its support for all that would preserve its security and stability."

The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen announced earlier on Wednesday the interception and destruction of a ballistic missile north of Riyadh launched by the Houthis. The coalition stated, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA): "The interception and destruction of a ballistic missile north of the city of Riyadh launched by the terrorist Houthi militia."

The "Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen" added: "We are tracking the launch platform with the coalition's intelligence system in the skies of Sana'a and will destroy it." This development comes amid intensifying battles between the internationally recognized Yemeni government forces, supported by Saudi Arabia, and the Houthis on the other side.

The Houthis announced on Wednesday the targeting of "King Khalid Airport in Riyadh with a ballistic missile... the strike was accurate and led to the disruption of air traffic at the airport," according to a statement by the group's military spokesman Yahya Saree.
