- Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad resigned from his position for personal reasons, after insisting on his resignation despite Iranian President Masoud Bezhkishan's earlier rejection of his request, as announced by a presidential official on Sunday. The official Iranian news agency "IRNA" reported that Mehdi Tabatabai, Deputy Head of the Iranian Presidential Office for Communications and Media, stated that Paknejad had submitted his resignation request some time ago for personal reasons, but President Bezhkishan did not approve it at that time.
Tabatabai added that "due to his insistence on resigning, it has been accepted," noting that the decision came with appreciation for Paknejad's efforts and services during his tenure as Oil Minister. Tabatabai explained that Bezhkishan appointed Hamid Bord as acting Oil Minister, based on Article 135 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, according to "IRNA".
Earlier, Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani confirmed that Paknejad had submitted his resignation from his position, but the Iranian president did not accept it at that time. Mohajerani praised Paknejad's efforts during his time in office, explaining that Bord, whom she described as one of the experienced managers in the Ministry of Oil, would assume the position of acting Oil Minister.
