Yair Golan: The assassination of Khamenei Sr. was a mistake

Not because he did not deserve to die, but because it did not serve the interests of the State of Israel. There is always a certain advantage when there is an elderly and veteran leader. He was already 86 years old."

He stated: "I have the impression that Khamenei Jr., if he is carrying out his duties at all, is under the control of the extremist Iranian leadership. After we got rid of the leadership class, we are left with only more extremist and violent people, and from a long-term strategic perspective, the war has made our situation worse, because Netanyahu himself set an unrealistic goal that was not achieved, which is to overthrow the Iranian regime."
