The Saudi Contractors Authority revealed the awarding of 119 projects in the contracting sector in the Kingdom during the first nine months of 2026, including 9 projects that were awarded last September.
The value of contracting projects awarded in Saudi Arabia during the current year amounted to $33.05 billion (123.93 billion riyals) until the end of September 2026, according to the monthly report issued by the Saudi Contractors Authority under the title “An overview of contracting sector projects in the Kingdom,” viewed by “Arabia Business.”
The month of June came with the highest number of projects awarded since the beginning of 2026, with 25 projects, and in terms of the value of the projects, the month of May was the highest, with a value exceeding $8 billion (30 billion riyals).
The Authority issues a monthly report in line with its efforts to support the contracting sector, enable contractors to know about investment opportunities, and provide information related to the contracting sector to contractors and those interested to help them plan their work and make appropriate decisions.
Last September witnessed the awarding of 9 projects in the contracting sector in Saudi Arabia, with a total value of $2.07 billion (7.77 billion riyals), according to the SCAVO platform, which specializes in tracking projects in the Kingdom in partnership with the Saudi Contractors Authority.
The water and energy sector is considered the highest in terms of financial value and number of projects, with 5 projects worth $821.3 million (3.08 billion riyals), followed by the industry sector with two projects worth $350 million (1.31 billion riyals), then the oil and gas sector with one project worth $600 million (2.25 billion riyals), and finally the building and construction sector with one project worth $300 million (1.12 billion riyals).
The Eastern Region and the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Region received the largest share in terms of the number of projects awarded in September, with 3 projects for each region, which represents 66% of the total number of projects, while the Riyadh, Hail and Al-Qassim regions witnessed the award of one project for each.
The value of projects awarded last month in the Eastern Province amounted to $871.3 million (3.27 billion riyals), followed by the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region with $500 million (1.88 billion riyals).
Regarding the expected delivery year for the projects that were awarded in September, a project worth $100 million (375 million riyals) is expected to be completed in 2028, six projects will be completed in 2029 worth $1.07 billion (4.02 billion riyals), and two projects will be delivered in 2030 worth $900 million (3.38 billion riyals).
The Saudi Energy Procurement Company and ACWA Power topped the five largest project owners in terms of the value to which their projects were awarded during the month of last September, as they obtained the highest share of the financial value and number of projects with a value equal to $800 million (3 billion riyals), through 4 projects.
SABIC Agricultural Nutrients Company came in second place with a project worth $600 million (2.25 billion riyals), related to the blue ammonia (low carbon) and urea plant project in Jubail.
A project affiliated with the Royal Commission for the City of Riyadh, the Public Investment Fund, and Expo 2030 Riyadh Company ranked next with a value of $300 million (1.125 billion riyals), then “Saudi Aramco” with a sulfur handling facility project in Ras Al-Khair Port worth $250 million (937.5 million riyals), and finally a joint project for the Saudi Authority for Industrial Estates and Technology Zones “Modon” and Jingdong Company with a value of $100 million (375 million riyals).
