Tel Aviv - Ofoq News - Data from Sheba shows that the public spent more than 250 million shekels on direct debit cards in just three hours, which is a noticeable increase compared to the previous elections.
Elections for the 26th Knesset are in full swing, and it seems that Israelis are taking advantage of Saturday not only to exercise their democratic right, but also to spend lavishly. Sheba data, published this morning (Tuesday), shows a significant increase in Israeli government spending via credit cards, compared to the previous election day.
According to data from Sheba, which manages and develops the national payment system, total spending with direct debit cards between 8:00 and 11:00 a.m. today amounted to NIS 250.78 million, an increase of 26.5% compared to the corresponding hours on the day of the 25th Knesset elections, held on November 1, 2022, when spending amounted to NIS 198.31 million.
Even compared to local election day on January 30, 2024, there was an uptick in spending. At that time, Israelis spent NIS 226.81 million, an increase of 10.6%.
