Tel Aviv - Ofoq News - Today, Saturday, Israeli Border Guard forces arrested six Palestinian workers under the pretext of residing in Israel without permits, while they were working to pick olives in orchards near the “Marhavia” settlement in the Marj Ibn Amer area.
According to the Ynet website, volunteers from the Border Guard arrested the six while they were in the olive groves near the town of Merhavia, where they were working during the olive harvest season.
The website indicated that Israeli estimates indicate that a number of other Palestinians were able to flee the place before the arrest operations were completed, while the detainees and their Israeli employer were transferred for investigation.
The report added that the response and emergency teams of both the kibbutz and the "Marhavia" settlement were summoned to the site, and provided assistance to the security forces in search and combing operations for the people who fled the site.
The arrest comes in light of the tightening of Israeli measures related to the entry of Palestinian workers into Israel and working there without permits, coinciding with the olive harvest season, which witnesses an increasing need for labor in agricultural areas.
The source indicated that the investigations will focus on the circumstances of the Palestinians’ entry into the region, the nature of their employment, in addition to the responsibility of the Israeli employer, who was also transferred for investigation.
