British counter-terrorism police on Thursday arrested a man with dual British and Iranian citizenship on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts, as part of an investigation into a security incident near Fairford Air Force Base in southwest England.
The Anti-Terrorism Unit said that the suspect is 27 years old, and was arrested in central London in connection with events that occurred on Sunday near the Fairford base of the British Royal Air Force.
The arrest comes as part of an investigation into suspicious activity near the base, in which Britain said Iran may be involved.
Another man was also questioned in connection with the investigation, while anti-terrorism police continue their investigations into the circumstances of the incident.
It is noteworthy that Fairford Air Base is managed by the United States.
This comes as official media reported today that Iran described the accusations linking Tehran to a suspected plot that was targeting Fairford Air Base in Britain as unfounded, and also summoned the British ambassador to Tehran over this issue.
