A massive funeral for Al-Salaita.. and King Abdullah II: Do not tolerate terrorism

Hadeel Ghabboun Amman, Jordan - Thousands of Jordanians mourned, on Friday, the body of Corporal Jawad Al-Salaita, from the ranks of the Diplomatic Security and the departments, in the northern town of Mushairfa in the Umm Al-Rasas district, southeast of the capital, Amman, with the participation of Prince Faisal bin Al-Hussein, Vice King Abdullah II. The Ofoq News camera in Arabic monitored the funeral ceremony, which witnessed a large public and official presence, and also transmitted the reactions of Al-Salaita’s family and relatives at the funeral ceremony and the funeral home.

Al-Salaita's family considered him "a martyr of Jordan" and "not just a martyr of the clan," while Sayyah Al-Salaita confirmed to Ofoq News Arabic website, who is the uncle of Corporal Al-Salaita, the clan's denunciation of what he described as a "cowardly act" against the young man who he said was a breadwinner for his family and loved ones. Al-Salaita was killed on Thursday while performing his security duty, following a sudden attack carried out by a person at the gate of an embassy in the capital, Amman, while an officer was injured during a clash with the assailant, who was arrested.

In a related context, King Abdullah II affirmed, on Thursday, that Jordan will not relent in the fight against terrorism and extremism, and will not allow anyone to threaten the security of the Kingdom or harm its citizens, during his discussions with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in the capital, Astana, according to what was reported by the Jordanian News Agency (Petra). Judicial documents revealed that the perpetrator in the policeman’s killing incident, which was described as a “terrorist act,” had previously been convicted in a terrorist case in 2022, and was sentenced to 9 years in prison on charges related to conspiracy to carry out terrorist acts, promoting the ideas of a terrorist group, and attempting to join armed organizations, and that he recently completed his sentence.
