After carrying the Saudi scarf... Al-Nasr republishes a previous statement by Ronaldo about “belonging”

Al-Nasr Saudi Club re-highlighted an old statement by Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo about his “belonging” to Saudi Arabia, after he raised a scarf bearing the Kingdom’s flag and the words of a clip from the Saudi national anthem after the match between Al-Alami and Uzbekistan’s Nevischi. Al-Nasr published, through its official account on the “X” platform, previously Twitter, a video clip of Ronaldo carrying the Saudi scarf on his shoulders.

The club commented on the snapshot by saying: “I am Portuguese, but I belong to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.” The Portuguese star had made this statement in a previous interview with the club published on June 28, 2025.

The Portuguese star placed the Saudi flag scarf on his shoulders while celebrating with the fans after winning 3-1 in the confrontation. This gesture came in light of Saudi Arabia being subjected to attacks by the Iranian-backed Yemeni Houthi group on facilities and infrastructure in the Kingdom, including King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.
