Alaa Mubarak on the authority of his father on the anniversary of the October War: “Your voice is not absent, nor is your face forgotten.”

Alaa Mubarak, son of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, spoke on Friday about the anniversary of the October War, saluting members of the Egyptian Armed Forces, and recalling his late father in a blog post he published on this occasion, which he attached to a video clip. Alaa Mubarak said in a blog post on his account on the “X” platform, previously Twitter: “On the anniversary of the glorious October War, a tribute of reverence and honor to the heroes of our brave armed forces who, with their pure blood and heroic sacrifices, wrote the greatest national epic in the modern era, and restored the nation’s dignity and land.”

Alaa Mubarak added: “May God forgive you, O Mubarak, and may you rest in peace. Your voice is not absent, nor is your face forgotten, nor is your memory erased from the heart. It remains in us, and God is eternal.” Alaa Mubarak's post comes days before the anniversary of the October 6, 1973 war, which witnessed the Egyptian forces crossing the Suez Canal and the start of military operations against Israeli forces in the Sinai Peninsula.

Hosni Mubarak, who assumed the presidency of Egypt between 1981 and 2011, was commander of the Egyptian Air Force during the 1973 October War, before becoming President of the Republic, succeeding the late President Anwar Sadat. Hosni Mubarak died in February 2020 at the age of 91, and a military funeral was held for him in Cairo in the presence of a number of senior Egyptian officials and figures.
