Nablus - Ofoq News - An-Najah National University continued to consolidate its academic and research leadership at the national and international levels, achieving a new scientific achievement by topping the Palestinian institutions in terms of the number of researchers included in the lists of the top 2% of world scientists for the year 2026, according to data published on the TopSciNet platform, and based on the research database prepared by researchers from Stanford University in cooperation with the international publishing house Elsevier.
The results showed that An-Najah National University accounts for the largest share of researchers included in the Palestinian list, whether in the classification of research impact during one year (Single-Year Impact), or in the classification of cumulative research impact throughout the academic career (Career-Long Impact), reaffirming its position as one of the most prominent academic institutions producing knowledge and scientific research in Palestine.
More than 40% of Palestine’s distinguished research scholars are from An-Najah University
According to published data for the year 2026, the number of An-Najah National University researchers included in the annual research impact list reached 21 out of 49 researchers in Palestine, meaning about 40.8% of the total researchers listed.
Thus, the university ranks first in Palestine, with a significant difference from other Palestinian universities.
In the classification of cumulative research impact throughout the academic career, the list included 9 researchers from An-Najah National University, equivalent to about 34.6% of the total 26 researchers in Palestine, thus maintaining first place among Palestinians.
This achievement gains special importance in light of the competitive nature of these global lists, which are based on scientific indicators linked to research citations and the impact of scientific production, taking into account a set of bibliometric indicators that measure the impact of researchers in their fields of specialization.
