Anwar Gargash after flydubai incident: UAE is a bulwark against extremism and terrorism

On Wednesday, Anwar Gargash, the diplomatic advisor to the President of the Emirates, wrote a comment on his account on the Gargash said: “The UAE will remain a beacon of tolerance, a bulwark against extremism and terrorism, and a force that creates positive change in the region.”

The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority announced, in a statement on Wednesday, that Flydubai flight FZ1073, heading from Dubai International Airport to Ben Gurion International Airport, on September 30, 2026, witnessed a security incident that was brought under control, which required the plane to be diverted and make an emergency landing at Tabuk Airport in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The statement continued: “The accident resulted in injuries to some of the plane’s crew, and they were transferred to the hospital to receive the necessary care in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Authority confirms that the safety and security of "Passengers and crew members are our top priority."

The authority explained that “the teams responsible for the investigation in the authority, in coordination with the relevant authorities, are continuing the investigation work to determine the causes and circumstances of the incident, including reviewing the operational and security aspects.” For his part, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said about the incident that one of the pilots stabbed his colleague and most likely tried to destroy the plane, the majority of whose passengers were Israeli.

It is noteworthy that Dubai has become one of the most popular international destinations for Israelis in recent years, thanks to the normalization of relations between Israel and the UAE in 2020 under the “Abraham Accords.”
