The Terror Crimes Prosecution announced that the Court of Cassation issued rulings rejecting appeals submitted by a number of convicts sentenced to life imprisonment in a case related to the establishment and joining of a terrorist group, and planning to carry out hostile and terrorist acts targeting the Kingdom of Bahrain and harming its interests.
The case dates back to a report received by the Public Prosecution regarding the group's planting of explosive devices in two different locations and detonating them, resulting in fatalities and serious injuries.
The prosecution clarified that the investigations conducted in the case led to the identification of several members of the group, revealing their roles in its establishment and planning its activities, as well as manufacturing the explosive devices used in carrying out its operations.
After completing the investigations, the Public Prosecution referred the defendants to the Grand Criminal Court, which considered the case over several sessions, providing the legal guarantees stipulated for the defendants, foremost among them the right to defense.
The court convicted the defendants and sentenced them to life imprisonment, in addition to confiscating the seized items, before the Court of Appeal upheld the rulings against them, according to Bahraini media.
The defendants filed appeals before the Court of Cassation, which ruled that their appeals were not accepted, thus making the rulings against them upheld in the stages of litigation.
