Ramallah - Ofoq News - The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine stressed the necessity of holding legislative elections on the scheduled date, as they are a national and democratic entitlement that should not be suspended or postponed, and an essential entry point for renewing legitimacy, rebuilding institutions on democratic foundations, and enhancing popular participation in decision-making.
In this context, the Front considered that holding elections should be preceded by a comprehensive national dialogue in which various political and societal forces and factions participate, with the aim of agreeing on the rules and foundations that guarantee the success of the electoral process and addressing the outstanding national and political issues, provided that this dialogue constitutes a practical step to end division, unify institutions, strengthen national partnership, and create the appropriate political climate for holding free and fair elections.
The Front stressed that any postponement of the elections beyond their scheduled dates cannot be treated as a technical measure or a temporary postponement, but rather is practically considered a cancellation of the electoral entitlement and a disruption of the right of citizens to choose their representatives and renew the legitimacy of institutions.
