The Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, reiterated this in a recent interview with the Qatari Al Jazeera network, in which he stressed that his country is not hostile to the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and views positively the role of Qatar and Oman in mediation and continuing the dialogue with Saudi Arabia. Araqji previously wrote on his page on the “X” platform, Twitter: “I stressed in my dialogue with Al Jazeera Network that we have no hostility towards the GCC countries, and we value the positive role played by Qatar and Oman, and we continue the dialogue with Saudi Arabia.”
The Iranian Foreign Minister continued: "Our goal is to reach new regional security arrangements that will be implemented by the countries of the region themselves, away from any foreign military presence." Doha is leading mediation efforts to prevent a large-scale escalation after the US midterm elections, amid escalating threats from both sides to engage in another round of fighting while keeping the option of a diplomatic solution alive.
