Today, Saturday, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty discussed with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, ways to reduce the escalation and resume the diplomatic track, in light of the current crisis and its repercussions.
This came during a meeting between the two ministers on the sidelines of the meetings of the 52nd session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, according to Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nader Zaki.
According to the spokesman, Abdel Aty stressed the need to reduce the escalation and work quickly to restore calm and stability in the region.
The two ministers discussed ways to reach an agreement that would contribute to containing the current crisis and preventing the expansion of the conflict.
Abdel Ati addressed the need to ensure freedom of international navigation and regular trade movement through sea lanes, which contributes to reducing the negative repercussions of the crisis on the global economy.
This comes in light of the major disruptions caused by the crisis in energy and fertilizer supply chains and international trade.
Abdel-Ati stressed the need to respect the security and stability of the Gulf states and all countries of the region, stressing the importance of stopping all hostile actions targeting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and condemning these unjustified attacks.
The Iranian Mehr News Agency reported that Araqchi arrived in Baghdad on Saturday morning at the head of a diplomatic delegation to participate in the meetings of foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
