The Egyptian government is considering establishing a new real estate investment fund to benefit from the assets of the New Urban Communities Authority, according to a statement issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Housing on Wednesday.

Randa El Minshawy, Minister of Housing, held a meeting to discuss ways to maximize the economic and investment benefit from the real estate assets of the Urban Communities Authority, by studying and activating innovative investment mechanisms that contribute to raising the efficiency of managing these assets, increasing the returns generated from them, and providing diverse and sustainable sources of financing for development and urban projects.

According to the statement, the meeting discussed the proposal to establish a real estate investment fund, which aims to maximize the economic return on the Authority’s assets, attract local and foreign capital and investments, and provide new sources of liquidity and financing, in addition to creating a diversified and growable real estate portfolio that achieves attractive investment returns and supports the sustainability of revenues.

Al-Minshawi stressed the importance of studying various investment models that allow maximizing the return on real estate assets, taking into account the nature of each asset, its capabilities, and the opportunities available for its development, which contributes to raising its economic value and making the best possible use of it.

She said that diversifying investment and financing mechanisms represents an important step towards enhancing the efficiency of asset management and providing additional resources that support urban development plans and keep pace with the expansion of project implementation in new cities.
