Jordanian actress Rakeen Saad won the Best Actress Award for her role in the movie “Owl” at the conclusion of the 9th session of the El Gouna International Film Festival, in Egypt, on Friday. Rakeen gave an emotional speech, after receiving the “El Gouna Star” award for the Best Actress category, and expressed her gratitude to her country, Jordan, and said that she was “very sad for her, and may God protect her,” in reference to the attack that occurred in a church in the Karak Governorate in the south of the country.
Rakeen added that she is "grateful" to Egypt, which she described as her "second country", to her fellow Egyptian artists who "embraced her among them, and to Egyptian art." She thanked Rakeen, the author and director of the film “Owl,” Zaid Abu Hamdan, for assigning her the lead role in the film, and pointed out the difficulty of the role “about a girl rejected by society.” She wished that there would not be any “child rejected by society,” and expressed her hope to continue presenting “films about humanity.”
The Jordanian actress thanked the El Gouna Festival, the jury, the crew of the film “Owl” and its makers. She especially thanked her brother Sari, and dedicated the award to him, her sister, her mother, and the spirit of her late media father, Saad Al-Silawi.
