He added: "This enhances the hope of Palestinian citizens in the 48 areas to preserve their rights, strengthen their conditions, and live in peace in their land." The former Prime Minister of Qatar also praised the performance of the Arab representative in the Israeli Knesset, Ahmed Tibi, "for his confidence, struggle, and strong insistence on securing Arab rights in the 1948 areas. I admired his audacity in responding to some Israeli parties that were, and are still, standing against any Palestinian electoral bloc that influences the balance of the Knesset blocs, even if it is under an Israeli cover."
Electoral estimates in Israel show that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his main rival Gadi Eisenkot were unable to reach 61 seats, the number required to form a ruling majority in the 120-seat Knesset. According to preliminary indicators, Netanyahu's bloc obtained 54 seats, which is considered a decline compared to the coalition he led in the outgoing Knesset, which had 68 seats.
However, his Likud party remains the single largest party. As for the parties opposing Netanyahu, they have a clear majority, as recent expectations indicate that they will obtain about 65 seats, but they remain dispersed and divided between the right, left, and center factions.
In order to oust Netanyahu, they will likely have to cooperate with Arab parties, whose electoral base has seen record turnout.
