Houthi media: Saudi raids on Sanaa and Saada

Sanaa - Ofoq News - The Houthi group said today, Saturday, that Saudi Arabia launched raids on the capital, Sanaa, and targeted a communications network in the Saqin district of Saada Governorate, northern Yemen.

This came according to what was reported by the group’s “Al-Masirah” channel on its page on the “X” company platform.

The channel said that Saudi raids targeted Sanaa, adding that Saudi planes bombed the communications network in the Saqin district, west of Saada, with missiles.

It also reported that a Saudi missile bombardment targeted the Maran District in the same governorate.

For its part, the independent Al-Masdar Online website said that 8 explosions were heard resulting from raids on sites in the city of Sanaa, coinciding with the sounds of aircraft flying.

There was no immediate comment from the coalition to support legitimacy in Yemen, led by Saudi Arabia, regarding what the Houthi group announced.

At dawn on Saturday, the Saudi Civil Defense announced that a person of Asian nationality was injured as a result of the fall of fragments of a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi group, after intercepting it, in the Uhud Rufaidah Governorate in the Asir region, south of the Kingdom.

This comes after the Civil Defense announced, on Friday, that a projectile fired by the Houthis had fallen on a school in the city of Najran, south of the Kingdom, resulting in material damage but no human casualties.

On the same day, the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen announced the interception and destruction of 4 ballistic missiles that it said the Houthis had launched towards the city of Khamis Mushait, southern Saudi Arabia.

On July 20, the Houthi group announced the imposition of a naval embargo on Saudi Arabia, and said that the move came in response to what it described as a Saudi naval and air blockade on the areas it controls in Yemen.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia has been leading a military coalition to support the Yemeni government against the Houthi forces, which are accused of receiving Iranian support, and which have controlled the capital, Sanaa, and several governorates since September 2014.

The Houthi group previously carried out attacks on sites inside Saudi Arabia, including energy production facilities, resulting in civilian casualties and material damage.
