- The Yemeni Ansar Allah group (Houthis) said on Sunday that, during the past 24 hours, it had carried out 4 “specific operations” against Saudi sites, most notably King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, warning against using Saudi airspace with the exception of “the airports and airspace of Mecca and Medina.” A statement by the Iranian-backed group stated that it targeted King Khalid Airport in Riyadh and a gas station in the eastern region belonging to the giant Aramco oil company in the Kingdom, in addition to targeting the Aramco Tanajib oil plant in the eastern region as well.
The Houthi statement indicated that the fourth operation targeted King Fahd Airport in Dammam, east of the Kingdom. Saudi Arabia has already announced that King Khalid Airport was subjected to attacks that resulted in deaths and hundreds of injuries, in addition to targeting King Fahd Airport in Dammam.
The Houthis also warned "all international companies, all experts, employees, workers and travelers from all countries of the world against the consequences of operating flights towards Saudi airports, as they are unsafe, except for the airports and airspace of the holy areas in Mecca and Medina." An "unidentified projectile" hit Terminal 4 at King Khalid International Airport on Sunday, a day after a bloody attack that left 12 dead and hundreds injured.
The coalition spokesman in Yemen, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, wrote on his account on the “X” website: “An attack with an unknown projectile on the passenger hall No. 4 at King Khalid International Airport.” The coalition spokesman indicated in a short statement that “a fire resulted from the attack, and the site is being monitored by the competent authorities.”
Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed a “cruise missile” in the vicinity of King Khalid Airport, according to the spokesman. The Saudi Civil Aviation Authority announced, on Sunday, that the attack that targeted King Khalid Airport earlier on Saturday resulted in the deaths of 12 people, including 4 citizens and 8 of different nationalities.
The authority explained in a statement that “the brutal attack... resulted in the death of 12 people, including 4 citizens and 8 residents: two of Bangladeshi nationality, and one each of American, Egyptian, Jordanian, Syrian, Palestinian, and Sudanese nationalities.”
Later Sunday, the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia announced the death of one of its citizens injured in the attack, bringing the death toll to 13 people.
